UNIVERSITY Privacy Statement
The University collects information about CU constituents from these sources (among others):
The University has many organizations. We share information openly with these University organizations.
The University has also formed relationships with companies to provide certain services to alumni and to generate revenue that helps finance some of the benefits and programs that the University provides. Before entering into a partnership with these companies, the University considers the business practices of the potential partners regarding the use of customer information. We have found and continue to evaluate our partners to ensure they are reputable, trustworthy organizations.
These companies communicate directly with our alumni to market products and services on behalf of University. For that purpose, we provide them a list of names and addresses, with a detailed contract governing the list's use.
Types of Information Collected We collect e-mail addresses when users submit them, either through an address update form, correspondence or by listing them on application or registration forms. We also on occasion hire services that specialize in researching lost or missing e-mail addresses for alumni (these services send notices to alumni with addresses in the public domain notifying CU constituents of our intent to add their e-mail address to our database).
University maintains a list of e-mail addresses so that we may keep interested CU constituents informed about the University and CU events. Therefore, we share e-mail addresses with CU schools, colleges, units and departments, regional alumni chapters and the CU Foundation and we compile them for electronic communication purposes such as e-newsletters, event invitations, program announcements, surveys, event registrations, etc. If you do not wish to receive electronic communications from CU or any other e-mail correspondence, you may opt out by sending an email to email@example.com or by identifying your email preferences on CU Link at https://link.cu.edu.
The University site also collects aggregate information about which pages alumni access or visit and any other information volunteered by a user, such as survey responses. This helps us evaluate and improve our site, and it is solely for use within the University.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure disabled users have access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.
We strive to meet both state and federal laws including, but not limited to, the following:
The University reserves the right, and you authorize the University, to the use and assignment of all information regarding your use of this website and all information provided by you in any manner consistent with the University Privacy Statement.
